"Labour has chosen Nancy Platts who lives in the constituency to be the candidate at the next election. Nancy has great experience as a community campaigner. She has campaigned for a children’s centre in every community, better parental leave, an end to child poverty and fuel poverty and more investment in public transport. I know that, when elected, she will be a hard working MP who will put the people of Brighton Pavilion first."
David Lepper MP
“I believe that whatever the state of national politics local MPs must first and foremost be people who understand and support local issues, irrespective of party. My meetings with
Nancy showed me she was not simply wanting a superficial understanding of the needs of Brighton residents, but that she has an enormous appetite for getting stuck in to support and promote issues which will not give her electoral advantage but have furthered the causes themselves enormously.”

“We had lived opposite garages that were covered in graffiti for some time; it really made the area look uncared-for. I contacted Brighton Council a couple of times but they said nothing could be done as it was private property. When Nancy Platts knocked at my door and explained she was trying to get the whole area cleaned up, we finally got some action.”

“I live in a twitten in the city centre that was targeted by graffiti vandals; all our houses, garden gates, walls, even windows and doors were covered in it. We had rubbish tipped all over the street and then to cap it all, some young lads thought it would be really funny to hide at night and then jump out at women walking home alone. Nancy Platts was quick to respond. She organised a resident’s meeting with the local Police and Council Officer. She soon got the area cleaned up and is now working to get the lighting improved for us.”

Gerry Kassab, a resident of Carlyle Street for 19 years says, “Our street was being used as a ‘rat run’ day and night by cars, vans and lorries…but the council said we had to wait until 2011 before they would even ‘review’ the situation. Nancy helped us to organise a petition and a deputation to the council. She was like a breath of fresh air and finally we are getting some action."

"Hi Nancy
Just a short email to thank Simon and yourself for your support today, I am just sorry it was such bad weather. We really do appreciate the effort you put in every time we do something, you never let us down many thanks"
