Climate change, the cost of public transport, the economy, nuclear power and the growing use of CCTV were some of the concerns raised by students when I visited Varndean College yesterday.

In December, more than 180 countries will join a United Nations meeting in Copenhagen, Denmark, so I decided to focus my talk on the urgent need for all countries to tackle climate change.
We had a quick vote (as surely must be expected at a politics society event!) about what Ed Miliband's priorities should be and the overwhelming winner was more government support for green jobs, so I will be contacting him to let him know!
Students also took part in my survey about the issues that were important to them and I'll be letting you know the outcome of this soon.
I then popped down to Carden Primary where I chatted to lots of parents and gave them copies of my latest newspaper. I was interested to hear that all pupils at this school learn Makaton sign language as part of the speech and language progamme. It's great to hear directly from parents about what they think about Brighton's schools.
