What a result! In just over six months since we launched this campaign, a Bill to toughen up licensing laws for lapdancing clubs was announced in today’s Queen’s speech. Well done to Object, the Fawcett Society and thanks to all the local groups and individuals who have supported this campaign.

We were out in force today, supporting the campaign for the South Downs to become a national park. Residents and local traders are signing up and we have just a few more months to get as many postcards as possible to the Rt Hon Hilary Benn MP. You can contact me for a postcard or get in touch directly with the campaign at

Please support this campaign and protect the South Downs!

I had a chance to go and meet Hilary Benn today so I took the opportunity to hand-deliver my campaign postcard!

I took refuge from the torrential rain in Brighton today and joined other Labour Party members at the local Amnesty International group to write postcards to prisoners of conscience. A few words on a postcard may not seem like much, but for someone locked up for their political or religious beliefs, it is good to know that others are thinking of you and campaigning on your behalf. For some prisoners, receiving lots of cards can make the authorities imprisoning them, note that others are aware of their plight and treat them more humanely. Everything is online if you want to take action too.
