I had the honour of being invited to help judge Brighton Carnival today, so it was down to lamp post 19 at Madeira Drive to meet up Cllr Mel Davis and the other judges at 2.30pm.
The Carnival was a riot of colourful outfits, dance and music and everyone had obviously taken a lot of trouble with their floats. It was great to see a wide age range amongst the participants. Find out more about the event and this year’s winners at www.brightoncarnival.co.uk

Once we’d agreed on the winners (not an easy job because they were all so good) I had to dash off to support the fundraising event at The Grey’s on Southover Street. You may recall from an earlier blog entry that Gill and Chris, the Landlords offered to continue to run their events as a fundraiser for Hanover Day 2009. We enjoyed a drink watching the Morris Men dancing and listening to the bands – great fun! We are lucky to have The Grey’s as one of our local pubs.
