I went out with David Lepper MP today meeting residents in Stanley Road near the Duke of York’s Picturehouse. I spoke to lots of people and the noise and speed of traffic is a real problem here. The result is that many of the properties are rented on short-term lets lowering the chance to build a protest campaign as many students might put up with the situation for a cheaper rent. I don’t think anyone should have to live with this, however long their stay in Brighton. This is a street that would probably benefit from becoming a 20 mph zone or even the re-introduction of parking or as a two-way street – all things that would slow down traffic.
