A visit to the Safe Space Art Exhibition

After meeting residents in Withdean this morning, I popped back to the office to catch up on emails and letters before heading down to St. Paul’s Church on West Street to see the Safe Space art exhibition and learn more about the project.

Safe Space provides support, first aid services and a place of safety to people in the town centre who have become vulnerable, injured or distressed. It’s open from 10.30pm to 2.30am on Fridays and Saturdays. They do a wonderful job looking after people and relieve the emergency services so they can focus on the real emergencies.

At the moment, this group is around over the summer and Christmas time but, as Brighton gets ever more popular, it really needs to be funded to be available all year round. There have been some generous donations from partners but more is needed.
